Rufus Wainwright: Do it Again...
Where were you on the night of April 23, 1961?
Where were you on the night of February 20th, 2007 at 8 pm?
Well I was at l'Olympia to see Rufus Wainwright perform the entire legendary 1961 Judy Garland concert with an orchestra! (a very dear friend of mine had offered me the ticket for Xmas, so you can imagine how long we had been waiting and anticipating for this event!)
Clad in a tight Viktor & Rolf three piece suit he appeared as slim, elegant and juvenile as ever!
Although he lost his voice half way through the concert, the simple fact that he would take on such an endeavour makes him a true hero!
He was not selling an album he was just with us for the simple pleasure of sharing and most of all he flew in from the USA 40 musicians and 2 guest stars!
Special guests: His sister Martha Wainwright who sang a 'Stormy weather' to the perfection and the great Lorna Luft (what a voice!).
